What’s The Vision For Your Business?

In business we start out with a vision, a vision of what the business will look like, what it will do, how it will help the customers, staff, business partners (suppliers) and of course, how much money you'll make. All of this leads to a personal vision of what your future lifestyle looks like.

Often in times of adversity, such as the devastating floods here in Bundaberg, we are forced to re-think or re-focus on our vision. Quite frankly, businesses in Bundaberg and a good chunk of the Wide Bay will be affected by the recent events, both positively and negatively.

As with the businesses in many parts of Australia that are going through significant challenges, perhaps now is the time for you to re-visit your vision of the business and lifestyle you'd like it to accommodate for you. Regardless if the vision is as current today as it was last year or is in need of a complete change, you and your team need to re-focus on the positives, find opportunities from adversity and be ever vigilant in the mission!

In tough times, for some, there will be closed doors, but for all, new doors will open. This could be an opportunity for great change, joint ventures, mergers and even the sale of your IP or Services. You could contract out yours or your team’s skills, you could offer your current clients alternate services from other businesses and take a margin, or simply sell the client base.

Perhaps a new vision, one that once wasn't possible because there was too much "stuff" going on in the current business? If you are starting again, what could your business look like? Who would be on your team, who would your clients be, what would you do differently?

Whilst I can't even begin to imagine some of the losses and pain many business communities are facing, it's important we continue to look for opportunities, take an outsider’s view, if your business wasn't there, who would come in to fill the void (because they will). What opportunities do you think they'll grab hold and run with?

Well I say this - Don't let them in, you find those opportunities and find a way to build infrastructure to support.

To this end we must all rally, as a business and general community, to support local. This is the first step in the survival and future prosperity of our great nation.
