Are Lack Of Systems In Your Business Costing You Precious Time .. And Money?

We all know it .. but do we do it? When meeting with Clients, the story is often the same “I want to make more money, but I also want more time to do other things!” If this is you, you're certainly not alone. When we go into business, we dream of being the boss, working our own hours, making more money and taking time off, but all to often it’s the exact opposite!

So what differentiates your business to the business down the road who’s owner is “never there”? The answer is systems. Not just for the big important stuff, but every aspect of your business. The only way to truly make yourself redundant in your business is by building systems. The business must work hard - not you!

Whilst this may look daunting, you may be thinking there are a million things to document, but here’s some great news - most businesses only have between 80 and 120 actual functions to be turned into systems. Most of these will fall into the following main categories:

  • Sales - yes, sales systems are critical for success!
  • Marketing - Bums on seats as they say!
  • Delivery/ Distribution (including services)
  • Administration - yes, the boring bits, but an essential foundation for growth.
  • Productivity - The human factor

Not only will your business run smoother, but when it comes time to sell, you could be looking at multiples of between 5-10 times earnings! Seriously, if you’re the only one who knows how to push the wheel barrow, and you're not behind it, it goes nowhere, fills with water and rusts out - that business isn't worth a cracker!

What are the systems in your business? Can you just up and leave for three months with no adverse affect to your business? Do your staff know what is required at every step of every process? Do they have an easy, simple process to follow if they aren't sure what to do? Are you constantly having to go over the same stuff, over and over again?
