Avoiding Business Insanity

In July, I read the following quote:
"A light bulb has the same potential as a laser beam - one lights up the room, the other cuts through metal".

IT’S ALL ABOUT NOT SPREADING YOURSELF

In business, especially in difficult times, we tend to spread ourselves across too many areas. In fact many business leaders tend to micro-manage everything in the business, which actually puts a ceiling or a cap on the business growing or innovating.

HOW DO YOU AVOID BUSINESS INSANITY?

Again in July, I received an email from Michael Royal, at BIR Resources. He gave 3 solutions to avoiding business insanity.

Most of us tend to reach the point of business insanity quite often, there are always problems, events, situations or disappointments that tie us in knots. By applying these 3 solutions, you actually get refocused in your life and in your business.

1.  Actively involve yourself in groups outside your own business

Challenge your perspective on business issues and life issues. I have personally found that when you get actively involved outside of the business, (despite whether you have time or not in your own mind) it gives you a fresh focus. It generates ideas and provides a break away from being actively thinking and working in the business from open to close every day. You will be surprised at the freshness it will bring in your thinking and attitude.

2.  Ask Three suppliers "what else could you supply me which could make a difference to what I offer my customers?"

Ask suppliers for unique ideas. In some cases this may cost you, or may increase your cost of goods, but in the end, if you have something unique, then you are able to charge more for that product or service.

3.  Read or hear something new and ask yourself "how would I make this work for me?"

If you are not listening or reading or using your car as your university, then you are not growing. And when you are not growing, you stagnate, and eventually die - your business comes to a stop, and slowly slides backwards.

AVOID BUSINESS INSANITY: ACTIVATE THE 3 SOLUTIONS MENTIONED ABOVE.
